Advent is a four-week season in the Church calendar dedicated to anticipating the arrival, or "advent," of Jesus of Nazareth, the long-awaited Messiah and King. Christians from many backgrounds celebrate this time with reflections on hope, peace, love, and joy. You're invited to celebrate Advent with us at Prodigal Church.
The Advent wreath is a symbol of the season, with a candle lit each of the four Sundays leading up to and on Christmas Day. The light of the flickering candle flames reminds us who Jesus is: “ In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:4-5). Feel free to light the corresponding candle before each devotional daily and put it out after the devotion time comes to a close. You're invited to celebrate Advent with us at Prodigal Church on Sunday mornings through Christmas.
